Arunachal Pradesh: Governor Emphasizes Hydropower and Tourism Development

ITANAGAR: In a recent meeting between Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) KT Parnaik and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, the former emphasized the untapped potential of the state's hydropower and tourism sectors. Held at the Raj Bhawan, the discussion highlighted the need for strategic initiatives to harness the economic and environmental benefits that these sectors offer.

During the meeting, Governor Parnaik, who had recently visited the remote Vijoynagar in Changlang district, underscored the significance of promoting non-conventional energy resources, particularly emphasizing the use of solar lighting. This move aligns with a sustainable approach to development while acknowledging the importance of preserving the natural habitat of the state's diverse flora and fauna. The governor urged a cautious approach to avoid undue interference with the delicate ecological balance.

Furthermore, the discussion centered on the expansion of tourism infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, with a specific focus on eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and religious tourism. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein shared insights into the plans for unlocking the tourism potential of the state, aiming to attract visitors seeking unique and enriching experiences. The mention of eco-tourism aligns with the global trend towards sustainable travel and responsible exploration.

The officials also explored the possibility of introducing horticultural crops such as saffron, kiwi, orange, and apple in areas conducive to their growth, with Vijoynagar identified as a potential location. This diversification of agricultural practices could contribute to both the economic development of the region and the enhancement of Arunachal Pradesh's agricultural landscape.

As the state looks toward a future driven by renewable energy and sustainable tourism practices, the collaboration between the governor and deputy chief minister signals a commitment to responsible development. The proposed initiatives aim not only to boost the economy but also to showcase the natural beauty and cultural richness of Arunachal Pradesh, attracting environmentally conscious travelers.

Governor Parnaik's call for a special focus on hydropower and tourism, coupled with an emphasis on eco-friendly practices, reflects a holistic approach to development in Arunachal Pradesh, one that seeks to harness its potential while preserving its unique natural heritage.
