Arunachal Pradesh: Heroin Seized, Two Arrested in Miao Police Operation

Miao: Two suspected drug traffickers were apprehended by the Anti-Drugs Squad (ADS) of Miao Police Station yesterday in a jungle ambush near New Yumchum village. The suspects, identified as Sanjit Kumar Chakma and Puchukala Chakma, were allegedly transporting drugs from Dharmapur 1 village to the Namphai 2 area. Acting on intelligence, the ADS team set up an ambush in the jungle. At approximately 1:45 p.m., they observed the two men approaching. Upon being ordered to stop, the suspects resisted arrest, resulting in a scuffle.

During the altercation, Puchukala Chakma brandished a dao (machete), injuring Constable Ladnong Singpho, who nonetheless managed to subdue the suspects. A search of the suspects yielded a black plastic bag containing one soap case with approximately 37.05 grams of suspected heroin and a plastic tobacco container with 6.80 grams of suspected heroin, for a total of 43.85 grams.
