ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) launched its Kra Daadi unit on Sunday in a simple ceremony organised at Palin. APLS general secretary Mukul Pathak and the society's Tirap district unit general secretary, Wanggo Socia, were present on the occasion. The event, convened by Gangte circle officer Eken Bam, was attended by eminent Nyishi writer Stephen Taku, Byabang Heri Govt HS School principal Higio Oyu, and Chambang CO Riba Gyad, among others. Eken Bam was appointed president of the district unit, along with Byabang Amar Dui as general secretary. This is the 12th district unit of the APLS. A literary session was held to display the published poems and literary works of budding writers in the district, including Charu Moni, Charu Asin, and Rangne Sorang.
Pathak, while congratulating the newly constituted unit, recounted the hardships faced by the APLS in its foundational years and the huge strides the society has made since then with the state government, according to the distinct recognition of its works in the sphere of literature in the state. He emphasised the importance of literature as the face of society and how the APLS has been working tremendously to spread awareness and provide platforms for budding writers to connect and develop. Socia, in his deliberations, exhorted the new district team to work selflessly for the amelioration of the layman and reaffirmed how the power of literature can shape perspectives and stories around people.
The new President assured that the unit would go beyond formal recognition to work assiduously and sincerely to uplift the literary and educational scenario in the district. He asserted that the poor performance of the district in the recently declared Board results was not lost on him and that the executive team would work for its improvement. A membership drive was also conducted by the newly constituted executive team for greater awareness and publicity.
