Arunachal Pradesh logs 116 new cases of COVID-19; tally rises to 52,525

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 52,525 with 116 more persons testing positive for the infection. The toll tally in the frontier State remained at 259, as no casualty was reported in the past 24 hours, said SSO (State Surveillance Officer) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Thursday.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 48, followed by Lower Subansiri (13), East Siang (8), Tawang (7), Papumpare (5); four each from Leparada, Lohit and West Kameng; three each from Upper Subansiri, Namsai and Lower Dibang Valley; two each from Anjaw, Changlang, Kra Daadi, Longding and West Siang; and one each from Tirap, Upper Siang, Siang and Pakke Kessang districts.

Among the fresh cases, 107 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests, four through RT-PCR and five through TrueNAT methods, said the official, adding that 57 people were symptomatic.

The active cases in the State now stand at 1,162, he said.

Meanwhile, as many as 81 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 51,104.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 97.29 per cent while the active percentage stands at 2.21 and the positivity rate at 3.25 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 256, followed by Lower Subansiri (125), West Kameng (108), Papumpare (93) and Upper Siang with 82 cases.

Altogether, 10,41,130 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 3,565 on Wednesday, added Dr Jampa.

SIO (State Immunisation Officer) Dr Dimong Padung has informed that 9,39,642 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
