Arunachal Pradesh logs 254 new COVID cases, one casualty

ITANAGAR: Altogether 254 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh pushing the virus count in the north-eastern State to 39,817. The toll tally in the frontier State increased to 189 with one more person died due to the infection in the past two days, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Monday. The 44-year-old man from Lohit district, died at Assam Medical College Hospital at Dibrugarh in the neighbouring State on Saturday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with COVID Pneumonia.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 106 followed by Longding (21), West Kameng (17), West Siang (14), East Siang (13) and Lower Dibang Valley at 11 fresh cases. Besides, 10 fresh cases each were also reported from Lohit and Papumpare, nine from East Kameng, eight from Tirap, Changlang (7), Lower Subansiri (5), Kamle (4), three each from Anjaw, Pakke Kessang and Leparada, two each from Upper Subansiri, Tawang, Upper Siang and Namsai and one each from Lower Siang and Siang district respectively. Among the fresh cases, 242 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests; seven through RT-PCR and five by TrueNat methods, said the official, adding that 101 people have symptoms.

The active cases in the land-locked State now stand stands at 3,718. As many as 276 patients were cured of the disease on Sunday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 35,910.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 90.19 per cent while the active percentage stands at 9.34 and the positivity rate at 6.28 per cent, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 850, followed by West Kameng (352), East Siang (297), Lohit (271), Papumpare (231) Tawang (185) and Upper Subansiri at 176 cases. Altogether, 8,22,183 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 4,044 on Sunday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 7,12,082 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
