ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh on Monday joined the rest of the world in observing International Day of Yoga by organizing yoga camp in various districts of the State maintaining all COVID-19 protocols.

In the State capital, the main function was organized at Raj Bhawan where Governor Brigadier (Retired) Dr B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu participated in the yoga session organized by the state youth affairs department. Speaking on the occasion, the governor extended his good wishes to the people of the state and expressed hope that the occasion would motivate more and more people to practice yoga.

Mishra said that the whole world is indebted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution in getting 21st June recognized as the International Day of Yoga, which has inspired millions of people all over the world to practice yoga, the precious health gift of ancient Indian seers to mankind.

"Yoga has helped the people in overcoming mental and physical challenges since ancient times and due to COVID pandemic, it has become more relevant," the governor said and appealed to the people to make yoga practise as part of their lifestyle and defeat Covid-19 pandemic through COVID appropriate behaviour and protocols.

Conveying his greetings to the people, Khandu said that along with the Indus Valley civilization, yoga also developed in the ancient Indian civilization.

"Health plays a very vital role in life and yoga enhances it. Yoga is helping the people to beat the bad effects of the coronavirus," he said and thanked the Prime Minister for spreading Yoga practice throughout the world.

Later taking to Twitter Khandu said, "Thanks to our ancestors for contributing the knowledge of #Yoga to the world and changing the human life for the better."

"Took part in a yoga session this morning with Hon'ble Governor Brig Dr BD Mishra Ji (Retd) on the occasion of #InternationalDayOfYoga at Raj Bhawan," Khandu said in another tweet.
