Arunachal Pradesh Police Recovers Many Stolen Mobiles

ITANAGAR: The Capital Unit of Arunachal Pradesh Police has recovered the highest number of stolen mobiles in the recent times with the arrest of three thieves from various locations, informed SP Tumme Amo.

Following an FIR on burglary lodged by shopkeeper Mujibur Rehman Khan, a team of police personnel led by Sub Inspector N Nishant arrested three thieves on Sunday.

According to the FIR, on last Sunday some unidentified person broke into the mobile shop of Khan located at Ganga market and stole all the mobile handsets, accessories and cash worth four lakh of rupees.

A case was registered vide case no. 253/19 u/s 457/380 IPC and Sub Inspector N Nishant was appointed as the Investigation Officer (IO) for the case.

The search operation was carried out under the the close monitoring of the capital SP Tumme Amo and Additional SP Harsh Indora

SP Amo said that the thieves broke the brick wall of the mobile shop and stole the mobile handsets, accessories and cash etc.

“Receiving the FIR, the police sources were engaged. Last Saturday, information was received that some unknown persons were approaching various mobile shops at Gandhi Market, Bank Tinali and Ganga Market to sell mobiles and accessories in large quantities,” he said.

Accordingly, a team comprising SDPO Itanagar, Deputy SP K Sikom, OC Inspector M Geyi, the IO N.Nishant and party apprehended one Sabikul Islam (19 years) of Bangalmara, Bhipuria Assam and presently residing at Chimpu Itanagar, he said.

“On his disclosure and confession, the police team recovered 14 mobile handsets, 7 dummy mobile and 178 mobile screen touch plates from his rented room at Chimpu Itanagar,” he said while adding that on the same day the police also arrested two more of his accomplices.

The SP disclosed that Rajibul Islam (19 years) and Sheikh Farid (22 years) also from Bhipuria, Assam and presently residing at Itanagar — were also arrested.

“From the initial interrogation, it has been revealed that these three accused persons were earlier engaged as labourers by the building owner for construction of the same building where they executed the burglary as they were well acquainted about the building,’ SP added.

The Court remanded the trio to six days police custody for further interrogation and investigation to ascertain their involvements in other cases in other districts or if they have other accomplices.
