ITANAGAR: Governor Brigadier (Retd) Dr B D Mishra appointed Lieutenant General Shantanu Dayal (Retd) as the new chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSCP) along with three members.The members of the new commission include Col Koj Tari (Retd), Professor Pradip Lingfa and Rosy Taba, an official communiqué informed.
While Lingfa is from the Mechanical Engineering department of North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Rosy Taba is an advocate and member of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The appointments were made under clause (1) of Article 316 of the Constitution of India, read with clause 4 of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations 1988. The APPSC comprises a chairman and four members as per the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations, 1988 as amended from time to time. The post of chairman and three members had fallen vacant due to the resignation of the chairman and members from their respective posts in October last year after a paper leakage incident came to light which created uproar in the state. An advertisement against the vacant posts was issued by the government, wherein 18 applications were received for the Chairman post and 58 for the post of the member. A high-level screening committee had in its meeting held on January 12 last recommended a panel of names for consideration by the government. The oath of office for the chairman and the members would be administered by the governor soon, the communiqué added.
