ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rises to 30,000 with 304 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Wednesday. The death toll in the northeastern State rose to 126 with one more person succumbing to the infection on Monday, the official said.

A 27-year-old lady from the Capital Complex Region died at the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu, near here on Monday, due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid Pneumonia, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Changlang district recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 51, followed by the Capital Complex Region (39), West Kameng (33), East Siang (24), East Kameng (23), Namsai (19), Anjaw (17), Lower Subansiri (13) and Lohit at 12.

Ten cases each were also reported from Papumpare, Upper Siang, Upper Subansiri and West Siang, seven from Leparada, six each from Lower Siang and Lower Dibang Valley, four each from Longding and Kra Daadi, three from Tawang and one each from Pakke Kessang, Dibang Valley and Kurung Kumey district respectively, the official said.

Of the fresh cases 295 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 3 through RT-PCR and 6 through TrueNat method, the SSO said adding, 122 people have symptoms. The frontier State now has 3,305 active cases.

As many as 438 patients recovered from the disease on Tuesday taking the number of recoveries in the state to 26,569, Jampa said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stands at 88.56 per cent while the active percentage stands at 11.02 and the positivity rate at 4.21 per cent, he said. The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 581, followed by Changlang (334), Tawang (248), West Kameng (232), Lohit (211) and Lower Subansiri with 201 cases.

Altogether, 6,45,249 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state so far, including 7,221 on Tuesday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 3,95,445 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January. The State as of Tuesday has a total of 1,24,520 vaccine doses available including, 1,15,680 supplied from the Centre and 8,840 purchased by the state government from Serum Institute of India, Dr Padung added.

Meanwhile, the State government has extended the total lockdown for seven more days in Tawang and Upper Subansiri districts till June 12, keeping in view the surge in COVID-19 cases. The government also announced district-specific containment measures till July 1 in all other districts to be announced by the respective district administration in consultation with the health department, the order stated.
