ITANAGAR: According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), Arunachal Pradesh recorded over 95 per cent enrollment of children in schools in the past 15 years, in the age group of 6-14 years and said that despite the closure of schools during the Covid pandemic, the enrolment in the northeastern state increased from 97.2 per cent in 2018 to 98.4 per cent in 2022, the report which was released on Wednesday.

The report revealed that almost all (98.4%) students in the age bracket of 6-14 years are now enrolled in schools in the country.

In ASER 2022, around seven lakh candidates from 19,060 schools in 616 districts of the country were surveyed to calculate the learning outcomes post-pandemic on school children. In Arunachal Pradesh, the survey covered a total of 376 villages, 5,320 households and 9148 children in the age group 3 to 16 in 13 districts.

The report unveiled high enrolment of children in schools, a good performance indicator for government programmes like the Nipun Bharat Mission. The rise in the number of girl children in schools also gave a positive indication of the synergies and effectiveness of the government's Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiatives.
