ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh reported two new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 55,260, a senior health official said.

As many as 54,947 people have been cured of the disease so far including, three on Friday, the official said.

The coronavirus death toll in the state remained unchanged at 280 as no fresh fatality was registered in the past 24 hours, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

The northeastern state now has 33 active cases.

The recovery rate among the Covid-19 patients remained at 99.43 per cent, while the active ratio stood at 0.06 per cent.

Tawang district recorded the highest number of active cases at 8, followed by West Kameng (7), the Capital Complex Region – comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas (6) while, Upper Siang and Siang districts recorded three each active cases.

A total of 11,97,724 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state thus far including, 271 on Friday, Jampa said adding, the positivity rate stands at 0.73 per cent.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 14,03,155 people have been inoculated so far in the state including, 4,024 on Friday.
