Arunachal Pradesh reports 220 fresh Corona cases, tally at 18,958

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday, reported 220 new COVID-19 cases -- the highest-ever single-day spike in the State, pushing the Coronavirus tally in the State to 18,958. The toll tally remained at 59. The State now has 1,536 active cases.

Meanwhile, 90 persons were cured of the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 17,363. The recovery and positivity rates among the Coronavirus patients stand at 91.59 % and 8.10% respectively, said State Surveillance Officer DrLobsangJampa.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the maximum number of new cases at 88, followed by Lower Dibang Valley (22), West Kameng (20), East Siang (17), Lower Subansiri (13), and Papumpare (11).

Besides, nine new cases were also reported from Lohit; seven from Changlang; six each from Tirap and Anjaw; five from Namsai; four from Leparada; three each from Upper Siang, East Kameng and Tawang; two from West Siang; and, one from Longding.

Of the fresh cases, 162 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests, 41 through RT-PCR and 17 through TrueNat method, said Jampa, adding that 75 new patients have symptoms of Coronavirus infection.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 440, followed by Lower Dibang Valley (308), West Kameng (133) and Papumpare at 113. Altogether 4,63,551 samples have been tested for COVID-19, including 3,747 on Monday.

Altogether 2,54,743 people have been inoculated so far since the beginning of the vaccination drive in January, informed State Immunisation Officer DrDimongPadung.

Meanwhile, the government has deferred the roll-out of the COVID-19 inoculation drive for those in the age group of 18 to 44 years from Saturday, as the State is facing some ''technical issues'', added the official.

In a bid to contain the spread of the disease, the Capital Complex administration has imposed a night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am from Saturday.

The State government has so far collected over Rs four lakh as fines from people who had violated the COVID protocols.
