Arunachal Pradesh reports 327 fresh COVID cases, one death

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 29,113 with 327 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health department official said here on Sunday. The death toll in the State increased to 123 with one more people succumbing to the disease on Friday, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

A 39-year-old man from Lohit district died on way to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) at Dibrugarh in Assam on June 04 due to COVID pneumonia. The person was suffering from hypertension, the official said. The Capital Complex region recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 77, followed by Lohit (43), Tawang (39), East Kameng (29), Upper Subansiri (25), Namsai (17), Changlang (16), East Siang (15), West Kameng (12) and Upper Siang (11).

Ten new cases were also reported from Papumpare, seven each from Lower Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri, five from Kra Daadi, four from Longding, two each from West Siang and Pakke Kessang and one each from Tirap, Anjaw, Lower Siang, Kurung Kumey, Leparada and Dibang Valley district respectively.

Of the fresh cases 305 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 13 through RT-PCR and nine through the TrueNat method, the official said adding, 110 people have symptoms. The frontier state now has 3,753 active cases.

At least 402 more people were recuperated from the disease on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 25,237.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stands at 86.69 per cent while the active percentage stands at 12.89 and the positivity rate at 4.16 per cent, Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 678, followed by Tawang (420), Changlang (333), Namsai (291), Lower Subansiri (264), Lohit (246) and West Kameng with 225 cases.

Altogether, 6,24,422 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 7,853 on Saturday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 3,77,924 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January.

The State as of June 4 has a total of 1,40,890 vaccine doses available including, 1,20,950 supplied from the Centre and 19,940 purchased by the state government from Serum Institute of India, Dr Padung informed.

Meanwhile, the state government in an order issued on Saturday has extended the total lockdown for seven more days till June 12 in Tawang and Upper Subansiri districts keeping in view the surge in COVID-19 cases. The government also announced district-specific containment measures till July 1 in all other districts to be announced by the respective district administration in consultation with the health department, the order stated.
