ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Taba Tedir has said that the Secondary and Higher Secondary schools across the State have reopened. The offline classes of Class X and Class XII resumed from November 16 keeping in view the ensuing CBSE examination 2020-21.

He also said that due to the Coronavirus outbreak, many classes of the students have wasted. CBSE will conduct the board examination as per their scheduled date and for which preparation of students needs to be made so that the children do not face many problems, he added.

"The State Cabinet has taken a decision for opening of schools for senior classes for Class X & XII from November 16. If there are no problems we may take decisions for opening of other classes too" Tedir said. He added that the students are being provided with facemask and funds have also been allotted through various means for installing sanitization machines and hand washing systems in all the schools.

"In case of any kind of emergency, I have directed the respective district administration and medical department to monitor. Moreover, the Deputy Director of School Education has also been directed to issue necessary directions to all schools to have an emergency room with few urgent medical facilities," Tedir added. He said a series of meetings through videoconferencing with all district administration, community based organization and others and accordingly the district level meeting was also done to re- open the offline classes.

Tedir informed that, apart from Class X and XII offline classes the regular online classes for rest of classes will continue. However he was dejected with the low percentage of students attending the online classes. Tedir appealed to the parents to send their wards only if necessary awareness and precautionary measures for COVID-19 are taken as a safety measure.

Meanwhile on the first day of reopening of senior classes, it was found that the teaching fraternity was very much concerned and almost all the safety measures were maintained.

The thermal scanner was installed at the main gate while the teachers were seen asking the students to maintain social and physical distance washing of hands system were also there but first the consent letter was taken at the main gate before any students were allowed to enter the school campus.

"We are happy after so many months of COVID-19 pandemic we are at our school and will interact with the teachers," a student said, adding that the online classes were miserable due to weak internet facility in the State.
