ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) conducted a day-long paralegal volunteer induction training programme for the students of Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College (JGGLC) at Jote, near here.
Assistant Professor Dr. Mijum Nyodu, while expressing his gratitude, praised APSLSA member secretary Yomge Ado for conducting the programme. In his keynote address, Ado informed the participants about the importance of free and competent legal services under the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987. The training programme was graced by experienced advocates Jaya Doji, Kagam Bagra, and Jupi Gab as resource persons, who highlighted relevant laws such as the Juvenile Justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, etc. Legal aid functionaries-cum-front office advocates of APSLSA apprised the participants about a range of NALSA-mandated schemes and welfare schemes of the government, like the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011, the Rights of Disabled Persons Scheme, 2015, etc.
A practical session and question-hour rounds were also conducted to assess the students’ comprehension of the acquired knowledge. The participants were given an opportunity to engage with the resource persons to address any doubts and queries. In the valedictory function, certificates were distributed to all the students who attended the programme. A total of 79 students participated in the programme, according to a press release.
