ITANAGAR: With five fresh cases including three from the worst-affected Changlang district and two from the State capital reported on Monday night, the total count of coronavirus cases in the State rose to 187 with 125 active persons, a senior Health official informed here on Tuesday.

The three persons who were detected positive in Changlang were returnees from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh while the two positive cases detected in the state capital are frontlilne workers, he said.

The frontline workers are detected from the COVID Care Centre at Lekhi, near here, and both are asymptomatic, State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa informed.

"Samples of primary contacts of the two persons have been collected and sent for testing," he said.

All the cases have been detected from quarantine centres; and were asymptomatic, he added.

On Monday, a positive patient from Changlang district was released after his swab samples tested negative for two consecutive times, Dr Jampa informed, adding that he was advised to go for strict 14-days home quarantine and self monitoring.

With the fresh cases reported on Monday, Arunachal has now 125 actives cases, while 61 people have recovered from the disease. A woman from West Kameng district died of the infection.

Changlang is the worst-hit district with 54 active cases, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (40) and West Kameng (12).

The first case in the State was reported in April 2, after a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from a hospital on April 16.

After almost six weeks, the State registered its second case on May 24, after a student who had returned from Delhi tested positive for the disease. As on date a total of 23,709 swab samples were tested; out of which results of 1612 are awaited.
