BOMDILA: Residents of Sartang villages in West Kameng district have unanimously decided to align with the Bomdila administrative jurisdiction, marking a key administrative transition following the creation of the Bichom district.
The decision was taken during a public hearing held in Salari on Monday, presided over by Dirang ADC Hage Tarung. The hearing was called in to collect the views of the local people on whether they wanted administration under Bomdila or Dirang.
The villages include Jerigaon, Khoina, Duthung, Saddle, Dingchangpam, and Bachiribo, all which were under Nafra, and Salari, Darbu, Rahung, Warjong, and Dangshing, which come under Dirang.
Residents were overwhelmingly in favor of integration with Bomdila, based on its geographical proximity and easier access compared to Dirang. This sentiment was echoed in the practical benefit of shifting for better administration and for efficient delivery of services on the part of stakeholders as community leaders, Zilla Parishad Members, and local officers.
Among the important visitors were Thembang ZPM Jam Tsering and Jirigaon ZPM Chewang Lhamu, Thembang CO Moyir Kato, leader figures of the Sartang community, and Gaon Burahs (GBs), who are members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI).
This realignment, which was actually born out of local feedback, aims to simplify governance among the Sartang locals and eliminate logistic problems. To this effect, the process so far has shown that every decision made is taken within an environment where the various needs and preferences of the locals must be met.
Bomdila will acquire the new set of villages from its list of governance and accessibilities for the Sartang locals.
