Arunachal: School Principal Nabbed For Allegedly Molesting Girl Students

Itanagar: The principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya has been apprehended for allegedly molesting nine girl students of the school in the Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh.

The matter came to light when the victims revealed the same before their parents on Tuesday.

Following the alleged molestation, a case section 354 IPC R/W 7 POCSO Act has been registered against the alleged accused Akhileshwar Singh at Daporijo police station.

''The victims have been recorded and further investigation is underway,'' said Daporijo police station OC Token Dubi.

Presently, the alleged accused is currently under police custody.

As per reports, the students claimed despite their protest, the accused often used to touch their bodies and private parts during class hours.

Following the advice of another teacher of the school, these students apprised their parents of the principal's misconduct. Later, the parents lodged a police complaint against Singh and subsequently, he was apprehended on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the parents of the students have demanded strict action against the culprit.

Recently, a government school teacher named Dharmeshwar Saikia was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Assam's Dhemaji district earlier on August 12.

He was the headmaster of a primary school in Bhebeli Gaon Village in Sissibargaon.

The locals had alleged that Saikia took advantage of the darkness and raped the woman near his house while the victim's sister-in-law witnessed the incident and called for help.

Reacting to the alarm locals in the vicinity gathered and thrashed the accused headmaster and handed him over to Sissibargaon police.

A case (146/2022) under sections 448 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code at Silapathar Police Station.

Earlier in the month of July, a government school teacher was arrested in southern Assam's Karimganj district for allegedly raping a minor student of the same school.

Later the arrested teacher was produced before a court and forwarded to judicial custody.
