ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh registered its highest-ever monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April this year, aligning with the national trend of record-breaking GST revenue.

According to a statement from the CGST&CX Commissionerate (Anti-Evasion Unit), the state collected ?332 crore in GST during April, marking a significant 66 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year.

Nationally, GST collections also reached a new peak, totaling ?2.37 lakh crore in April 2025, an increase of 12.6% year-on-year. Since the rollout of GST in July 2017, Arunachal’s taxpayer base has expanded substantially, now comprising approximately 20,000 registered taxpayers, the statement said.

To raise awareness about GST as it nears its eighth anniversary, the Central GST Itanagar Commissionerate organised a cyclothon on May 18 under the banner ‘Sunday on Cycles’. The event aimed to promote both GST awareness and healthy living.

Despite rainy weather, around 45 spirited participants gathered at Bank Tinali, where the rally was flagged off at 8 AM. The route concluded at Indira Gandhi Park, wrapping up a spirited morning of fitness and outreach.
