ITANAGAR: The state of Arunachal Pradesh has taken a progressive step towards uplifting local agriculture and enhancing livelihoods by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The MoU was established with the Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) for formalizing the launch of Mission Arun Himveer, a unique initiative to connect local farming communities with the country's border security forces.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu spearheaded the initiative and pointed out dual benefits from it. Such an agreement helps farmers provide fresh produce with a stable market while increasing the ties of border residents with the ITBP.

Proposed earlier to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mission has finally taken shape. According to the agreement, the ITBP will directly purchase farm products from regional farmers, thus saving on market challenges and thereby offering more economic opportunities for the farming community. The initiative is likely to re-energize the rural economy while ensuring a constant supply of fresh, locally sourced produce for the ITBP.

This initiative represents the commitment of Arunachal to community resilience, local markets, and strengthening national security forces ties in the border regions, making it a model for sustainable development.
