ROING: In a landmark celebration of cultural heritage, the Singpho community formally consecrated a newly constructed Manau Shadung (sacred altar) at the Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) museum, at Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The ceremony held on Saturday, attended by community elders, was graced by Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) chairperson Balkrishna V Chaubal and chief risk manager Vinay Madan, alongside a large gathering of community members.
The event also marked the release of two Singpho-language pictorial glossary books, Ruhkum (Numerals) and Shingra Ma?ka hteq Grupyin Ma?sha? (nature and environment) under the educational initiative Jinghpaw Ga Sha?rin La Gaq (let us learn Singpho).
The publications aim to strengthen language preservation efforts and were launched by Chaubal and Madan in the presence of the community.
Speaking on the occasion, secretary general of the Singpho Development Society (SDS) Ongyun Maio, underlined the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the Manau Shadung in maintaining the Singpho identity.
