Itanagar: On Sunday, Nani Sonam of Arunachal Pradesh won the silver medal in the skateboarding park at the 62nd National Roller Skating Championships, 2024, which are currently taking place in Bangalore.

She is now the first person from Arunachal to take home a medal in the female skateboarding park category. She also participated in the skateboarding park for the first time.

At the 60th and 61st National Roller Skating Championships, which were held in Karnataka in 2022 and Chandigarh in 2023, respectively, Sonam had already taken home the gold medal in the senior female skateboarding division.

Recently, there were reports that the government of Arunachal Pradesh is probably going to work with France to improve the state's agro-based industry, sports facilities, and wildlife preservation. French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, his wife Madame Cecile Mathou, and French Consul General in Kolkata Didier Talpin met with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu last month to explore possible collaborations in a number of areas.

“We are delighted to host you here in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun,’ a place where vibrant culture, natural wonders, and stunning landscapes come together in perfect harmony. We hope you enjoy the serene beauty, the rich heritage, and the warm hospitality of our people,” CM Pema Khandu said.

“With our shared passion for football, we’re excited about opportunities to work with French expertise to nurture local talent and enhance our sports infrastructure,” Khandu said.

Furthermore, we anticipate their assistance in the creation of natural parks in Arunachal, which will help save our varied ecosystems, given France's well-known expertise in biodiversity protection, he added. Leveraging the enormous horticulture potential of Arunachal Pradesh was another topic of discussion.
