Itanagar: In a significant recognition of his contributions to the power sector, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Ltd (HPDCAPL), Toko Onuj, has been appointed as a member of the governing council of the National Power Training Institute (NPTI).
His three-year term began on July 1. Onuj has been inducted as a representative of the Northeast Indian power sector, bringing valuable regional insight to the apex training body under the Union Ministry of Power. His appointment is expected to strengthen the representation of northeastern interests in national-level policymaking and capacity-building efforts in the power sector.
The governing council of NPTI, chaired by the Union Power Secretary, is a high-level advisory body comprising five representatives from state electricity boards or departments and five eminent professionals drawn from fields such as technical education, energy conservation, non-conventional energy, rural electrification, power equipment manufacturing, and management.
Members are selected on a rotational basis to offer strategic guidance for sectoral advancement.
NPTI, headquartered in Faridabad, Haryana, is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified autonomous organization under the Ministry of Power.
