Arunachal: Training on Mushroom Cultivation Technology Held in East Siang

A three-day training on mushroom cultivation technology was successfully conducted by the Mushroom Development Centre under the District Horticulture Officer in East Siang District.

Itanagar: A three-day training and demonstration program on "Mushroom Cultivation Technology" was successfully conducted by the Mushroom Development Centre (MDC) under District Horticulture Officer (DHO) East Siang District.

The event commenced on February 5 and concluded on February 7, 2025. The training sessions were held at Rayang village, Namsing village, and MDC-training hall (GTC Pasighat).

The training programme witnessed active participation from more than 100 individuals, including members of various SHGs, individualfarmers,s and young entrepreneurs. The program received positive feedback from participants; they expressed their eagerness to implement their newfound skills in mushroom cultivation and appeal to the department for many more such trainings.

The primary objective of the program was to provide participants with fundamental knowledge on mushroom cultivation and spawn production technology. The training also provided hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation, with particular focus on oyster and button mushroom cultivation.

The programme aimed to encourage self-employment opportunities through mushroom farming, enabling participants to generate sustainable income. The trainees were also introduced to the value addition of mushrooms and the source of additional income by recycling mushroom substrate for use as organic manure.

A. R. Ering, DHO Pasighat, warmly welcomed all the participants and provided an overview of the aims and objectives of the program. All the participants received mushroom cultivation kits and informative pamphlets and were felicitated with certificates.
