ITANAGAR: Dr Tagat Taggu, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) here, and a permanent resident of Bilat village in East Siang district, has voluntarily surrendered his 12-bore SBBL gun with its license at the deputy commissioner’s office at Pasighat on Tuesday. The surrender took place in the presence of East Siang deputy commissioner Tayi Taggu, EAC Sanjay Taram, and labour officer Tore Ete. In his statement, Dr Taggu emphasised that his decision was driven by a commitment to wildlife protection and a desire to discourage the killing of wildlife. He expressed hope that his act would inspire others to recognise their role in preserving nature and safeguarding the environment for future generations.
