
ITANAGAR: Two ghastly road accidents were reported in Kamle and Pakke-Kessang districts on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of two persons while several others received injuries. In the first mishap, a bike accident killed Manoj Risong, an East Siang district resident near Godak village in Kamle district.
The incident took place at around 9 AM when Risong, negotiating a sharp turn, fell into a gorge. Sadly, he succumbed to the injuries on the spot.
Napho Wangsa, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raga Police Station, said a case has been lodged in this connection. "The body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives," Wangsa added.
In a different case, at Riloh in Pakke-Kessang district, two vehicles collided fatally. A resident, Fehi Tayem, was killed when the impact of the crash caused him to succumb to his injuries.
Speaking to the media, Pakke-Kessang Superintendent of Police (SP) Tasi Darang elaborated on the accident. "Three people were injured in the accident. One passenger died, and two injured women have been admitted to Seppa hospital for treatment. We have registered a case, and investigations are going on," the SP said.
These tragedies have highlighted the urgent requirement for stepped-up road safety measures in the area. The relevant authorities have warned road users to be careful, especially when taking sharp turns and on roads that are not well-maintained.
The communities have expressed their condolences to the different families of the victims whose investigations into why such accidents happen continue to unveil.
