ITANAGAR: Rural Development Minister Bamang Felix on Wednesday exhorted the officials of Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) to consider themselves as missionaries for transforming and reforming rural areas of the State and execute their duties accordingly.

Chairing a review meeting of ArSRLM here, the Minister said that rural Arunachal can only transform if the ArSRLM fulfils its mission.

During the meeting, various issues such as institutional building process, financial inclusion frameworks, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY), ArSRLM organizational structure, activities and recruitment process were reviewed in detail. Stating that ArSRLM activities not only facilitates sustainable financial empowerment of rural folks but also bring about positive behavioural changes among them, Felix asserted that the State Government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu is keen towards providing all possible assistance and support to the mission.

Cautioning that political interference into the workings of the ArSRLM, especially in regard to the transfer and posting will be discouraged, the Minister advised all officers and officials to consider entire geographical area of the State as their place of work.

He further advised the ArSRLM team to emphasize on involvement of rural womenfolk in their activities and undertakings, while stating that empowering mothers is the first step towards transforming the entire society and State.

The Minister assured all possible assistance and support to the ArSRLM from the Government.

Mission CEO Dr Kego Jilen, who is also Director of Rural Development, encouraged the officers and officials to make ArSRLM the best performing team in the nation.

He advised them to be proactive and committed towards their responsibilities and stated that the existence of ArSRLM depends on their performances.

Earlier, State Mission Manager (Livelihood) Jechonia Islary, presented a PPT on the current status of the ArSRLM.

He informed that the target was to mobilize 1.30 lakh rural households into the self-help group (SHG) fold by 2025. Currently, more than 51,000 households have been incorporated into the SHG fold.

Islary added that 38000 women farmers are covered under MKSP and AAP. Under DDUGKY, 780 rural youths have been trained with placement of 301 youths among the total trained.

"A MoU will soon be signed with multiple companies and organizations following which the number of rural youths getting placement will increase," Islary added.

Mission managers from several districts were also present in the meeting and highlighted their performances and challenges.
