ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung convened a review meeting at Aalo in West Siang district on Wednesday to discuss the long pending sports outdoor stadium. The minister inspected the outdoor stadium and later convened the review meeting to discuss the progress and other issues related to the outdoor stadium.

District Sports Officer Tumto Loyi highlighted the progress of the ongoing project. The construction of the stadium at Aalo, which started in 2016, was discontinued for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the project manager of T K Engineering and Consotorium, 68 per cent physical work of the stadium has been completed.

During the visit of Chief Minister Pema Khandu in November last year, the construction agency assured that it would complete the ongoing project by March this year. However, it could not be completed due to various reasons. Natung has directed the executing agency to increase the labour force and work 24x7 in order to complete the project by October this year. He added that there are no objections from the locals and that there is also no shortage of funds for the project.

The minister urged the DC and the district sports department to physically monitor the work. West Siang DC Penga Tato assured the minister of logistical support from the district administration for the early completion of the project. Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary Anurudin Singh discussed the plan with the implementing agencies and appealed to them to complete the work as desired by the minister.
