ITANAGAR: At least 238 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the State's tally to 13,643, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Tuesday.

Arunachal currently has 2,833 active coronavirus patients. Altogether 30 persons have succumbed to the infection. Altogether 228 people have been cured of the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,780. The Coronavirus recovery rate in the State now stands at 79.01 per cent.

Of the 238 fresh cases, 40 were reported from the Capital Complex region; 39 from Lohit; 32 from East Siang; 29 from West Siang; 17 from Siang; 14 from Changlang; 12 from Tirap; 11 from Upper Subansiri; 10 from West Kamengs; seven from Upper Siang; five each from Namsai and Lower Subansiri; four from Lower Dibang Valley; three each from Pakke Kessang and Tawang; two each from Longding, Papumpare and Lepa Rada; and one from Kurung Kumey. Barring 49, all the new patients are asymptomatic and shifted to COVID Care Centers. Among the new patients are 10 Army personnel and four Healthcare workers — two each from Siang and Changlang. The Capital Complex region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — has the highest number of active cases at 1,385, followed by West Siang at 316, East Siang at 167, Lohit (129), Changlang (122) and Tirap at 114. As many as 2,96,135 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 2,941 on Monday, he added.
