ITANAGAR: Tourists from all over India are flocking into the Sela Tunnel region of Arunachal Pradesh, attracted by a recent snowfall that has turned the area into a beautiful winter wonderland. The area, which is renowned for its snow-clad landscape and sub-zero temperatures, offers a much-needed relief from the heat elsewhere in the country.

Situated at an altitude of 13,000 feet, the Sela Tunnel comprises two separate tunnels and has become a major tourist spot for those looking to experience the magical beauty of Arunachal Pradesh during winter. The North and South portals of the tunnel, now covered with snow, have become preferred locations for tourists in search of adventure and panoramic mountain scenery.

The snowfall over the mountain ranges of Tawang has also increased the area's charm. When temperatures soar in urban areas such as Guwahati, the cool weather and snow-clad mountains of Tawang offer a welcome respite. Tourists are drawn to the dramatic contrast between the warm lowlands and the peaceful, snow-covered highlands.

Namgey Tsering, MLA of Tawang, underlined the significance of weather in drawing tourists to the Northeast. He pointed out that the chill in the air and snow-covered mountains make it a perfect place for adventure tourists. One tourist from Chirang, Assam, compared the snow-clad view of Tawang to Switzerland, enjoying its peaceful ambiance and unique winter appeal.

With its unspoiled environment and breathtaking scenery, Tawang still remains a top-of-the-line tourist destination in Northeast India, presenting a harmonious mix of peace and adventure.
