Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona exhorts students to inculcate reading habit

Itanagar: Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Tuesday exhorted the students of Rama Krishna Mission School at Aalo, in West Siang district to inculcate reading habits which will not only enrich their knowledge but also help in shaping their future.

The Speaker was addressing a mammoth gathering of students, parents, teachers and alumni of RKM at the newly inaugurated school building.

Sona, an alumni of the school, while recalling his student day said, “I attribute RKM Aalo for everything that is happening in my life.”

Recollecting how he would take an arduous 7 day foot journey from his hometown Mechukha to Kaying to reach his school at Aalo, the Speaker said, it was because of love and affection of Swamis and teachers that we never shy away from going back to school.

He extended his heartfelt gratitude to his Swamis and teachers, an official communique informed here.

Stressing that apart from extracurricular activities students should inculcate reading habits, Sona cited the famous Walt Disney quote “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island and best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life.”

In a bid to encourage the students on reading habits, the speaker announced to provide fund for buying books of all genre for the school library.

“Use your precious time now because this is the time where you can shape your future,” he said.

General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Bellur Math, Swami Suvirananda, who came all the way from Kolkata to inaugurate the new school building, described the RKM Aalo as very special and has great name across the country.

“We the Ramakrishna Mission family is very proud that many of our students are serving the country in various capacities,” he said while narrating how RKM school came into being at Aalo two decades ago.

He also recalled the contribution of late Boken Ete in the establishment of the school.

Stating that RKM Aalo has a bright future, Swami Suvirananda said that Ramakrishna Organization has been a humble servant for the cause of people of Arunachal since two decades and will keep doing so.

Former minister Kento Ete lauded the Ramakrishna Mission for successfully producing huge numbers of human resources in the state since two decades.

He extended his deep gratitude to all the Swamijis, teachers and other staff for rendering dedicated services to the people of state especially Aalo.

He however expressed little concern over the meagre salary of teaching and non teaching staff and requested the General Secretary to take up the matter with the higher ups to improve their living conditions.

Earlier, Swami Yogishwarananda, Secretary RKM Aalo, highlighted the growth, development and functioning of the school.

He informed that as part of inaugural ceremony of new school building a three day event was organized at the school.

RKM school at Aalo was started in the year 1966 to serve the humanity, he said and informed that the new building also has come up to accommodate more students, the communique added.
