Association sets deadline for repair of vital capital road

ITANAGAR: A youth organization here has submitted a representation to the state PWD Chief Engineer (Western Zone) on the bad road condition in Jollang panchayat. The Jully Valley Youth Welfare Association (JVYWA) in the representation served an ultimatum of one month demanding the department's immediate repair of the vital road and, besides, filling up the potholes from Ganga to Papu Nallah via the Jollang stretch of the road within the time period.

The association also threatened to resort to a democratic movement in the form of a Chakka Bandh for 12 hours at Jollang Panchayat (1st phase) if the demands were not fulfilled within the deadline. They informed that the local residents are facing severe transportation difficulties due to the bad road. "The main road and sub-road connecting Ganga to Papu Nallah via Jollang are in very poor conditions. There are chances for road accidents every day. Many accidents leading to body injuries and deaths have already been reported on this stretch of road during the past few months," JVYWA pointed out. It added that there is no appropriate drainage system by the side of the road, which creates flood issues in rainy seasons and drainage clogging throughout the year.
