Bamang Felix terms ANYA’s proposed Capital bandh as ‘illegal’

Itanagar: Home Minister Bamang Felix on Monday termed the proposed bandh call by All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on February 28 next, as ‘illegal’.

The ANYA has called a dawn-to-dusk shutdown of the State capital on February 28 citing apathy by the State Government to fulfil its charter of demands.

Addressing media here, Felix said representatives of ANYA had verbally declined his invitation for a meeting to resolve the matter. “When the government is ready to initiate a dialogue, why are they not ready for it?” he questioned.

While clarifying point-by-point on ANYA’s demand, Felix said most of the demands placed by them have been resolved.

On the association demand for scrapping of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB), the home minister admitted that gross irregularities were witnessed during the exam conducted by the Board for LDC and other posts.

Felix, however, maintained that the state government is committed to clean up the mess.

“The case has been fast-tracked,” Felix said adding the state government will do all it can to bring the perpetrators to justice as the investigation is going on in the right path.

On implementation of the district-wise quota for unemployed youths by the APSSB, Felix said the Board has not violated the procedure. He said 80 percent of group C jobs are to be filled through district-wise quota.

On the Arunachal Pradesh District Based Entrepreneurs and Professionals (Incentives, Development and Promotional) Act, 2015, the minister said a committee headed by Education Minister Taba Tedir has already held meetings with stakeholders.

“The committee has already submitted its recommendations to the State Government and a decision on it will be taken up in the cabinet meeting,” he disclosed.

On ANYA’s demand for early resolution of the boundary dispute between Assam and Arunachal at Dollungmukh in Kamle district, Felix said the government is aware of the inter-state boundary skirmish with Assam government officials in the area recently and urged the Assam side to maintain the status quo on the boundary dispute.

“The State Government has written to the Assam government to maintain status quo on the boundary question,” he said.

On the association’s demand for immediate construction of the ambitious Trans-Arunachal Highway, the minister informed that the State Government would pay land compensation to landowners on pro rata basis. He said MLAs and DCs have been entrusted to work out modalities for the speedy construction of the TAH.

Felix added that the construction for the Potin-Pangin stretch of the TAH would be flagged off on February 29 next.

Advising ANYA to call off its proposed bandh, the Home Minister said the State Government resolved the issues raised by them as they were of public interest. He added that resorting to bandh call is not a solution.

He said the State Government would make all arrangements to ensure peace and tranquillity and to maintain law and order in the State.
