Benefits of maternity leave, childcare leave for contractual female employees extended by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu

ITANAGAR: In his first day in office, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday signed the first file extending maternity leave and childcare (CC) leave benefits to female contingency and contractual employees of the State government.
Khandu was sworn in as Chief Minister of the State for the second term on May 29 last along with 11 other Cabinet Ministers.
Keeping his intentions straight and clear that welfare of people would come first in his government, Khandu signed the first file during his first day in office for the benefit of female contingency and contractual employees, an official release informed.
Maternity and child care leave was only given to regular government employees in Arunachal and the contingency and contractual employees were debarred of these benefits.
Considering genuineness of the case, the Chief Minister cleared the file under which the contingency and contractual female employees serving in various capacities in the State would now get 180 days of maternity benefit and 60 days of child care leave.
The decision would benefit more than 20,000 female contingency and contractual employees spread across the State in various departments.
