Itanagar: In view of the approaching monsoon and delay in the progress of the all-important Bhalukpong-Charduar-Road (BCT) road which, is the lifeline for the three districts of West Kameng, East Kameng and Tawang and strategically vital from the defense point of view, the West Kameng district administration on Monday convened a meeting with all the stakeholders to deliberate on major issues related to the road and for its timely completion.

The stakeholders include, Commander 14 BRTF, OC 91 RCC, GM NEEPCO, SP, administrative officers of Rupa, Singchung, Bomdila, DLR&SO and representatives of the TTC Infra India and others, an official release informed here.

Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki informed that a written request had been received from the concessionaire TTC Infra India for closure of the BCT road from Sessa to Nechiphu for a month’s time in order to carry out immediate construction of a strategically important bridge located km 75.00 near Saddle and other important formation cuttings, which were otherwise not possible to be taken up during the normal closure timings.

He also observed that in case, said stretch of road is closed on the BCT road, the road from Pinjoli Bridge to Khuppi via Kimi to Nechiphu (0-point) should remain open for traffic as an alternate route and directed the NEEPCO authorities to maintain and make the alternate road as all-weather road for commuting during the proposed period of closure.

The DC also directed the BRO to erect signages at conspicuous places at Bhalukpong and Nechiphu areas for ease of the commuters.

Agreeing to the proposal, the Commander 42 BRTF, however, observed that the Concessionaire should invariably adhere to the timeframe in case order to that effect is issued. The regular movement of traffic should resume unhindered after the allotted period of one month’s time is over, he added.

As per the appeal made by the Concessionaire, closure of the BCT road from Sessa to Nechiphu (0-point) was proposed from March 15-April 14 next, the communique informed.
