Deputy CM Chowna Mein hosted a high-level coordination meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar on Saturday to discuss the preparations for Arunachal's celebration of Bhupen Hazarika's legacy with a museum in Roing and multilingual books.
A museum honouring the “Bard of the Brahmaputra” will be built in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district, to display his life, creations, and lasting influence on the area. To commemorate the anniversary, a multilingual commemorative book detailing his life and contributions will also be released.
“The celebration will be a tribute not just to Dr Hazarika’s music but to the timeless values of inclusivity, cultural pride, and harmony across communities he championed,” Mein stated during the meeting.
Senior state government officials, including Secretary (Planning) RK Sharma and Secretary to the Chief Minister Sadhana Deori, were present at the meeting, along with Education and Tourism Minister PD Sona and MLAs Mutchu Mithi, Oken Tayeng, and Puinnyo Apum. Manjula Hazarika, the secretary of the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust, and her team were also in attendance, along with YD Thongchi, president of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society.
