Tashi, a sitting MLA died in November last year at a city hospital in Guwahati at the age of 48.
The candidate with her two proposers and advocate came to returning officers' office at Tawang and filed her papers, election office source informed. A gazette notification for the by-poll was issued on January 31 and the last date for filing nominations is February 7 next.
While scrutiny of papers would be held on February 8, the last date of withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on February 10. Counting of votes would take place on March 2.
A total of 9,169 electorates, including 4,712 women voters would cast their votes in 33 polling booths of the constituency situated at the Indo-China border.
Meanwhile, the People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) has lodged an FIR against Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Mission (APBM) Chairman Tungri Effa for threatening its official candidate Leki Norbu for the by-elections.
PPA president Kahfa Bengia while talking to reporters here on Thursday said that the party's candidate has been threatened by the chairman not to file nominations for the upcoming polls.
Playing an audio clip of conversation between Effa and Norbu, Bengia said that the state government must initiate action against an unproductive officer who is trying to create hue and cry among the peaceful people of Tawang.
"When country's Constitution has given rights to every individual to contest election, then how come PPA's candidate is being targeted," Bengia rued. Restricting or intimidating a candidate is a murder of democracy which the State government needs to understand, he added. Despite several attempts, Effa could not be contacted for his comment.
