Itanagar: Bogibeel Bridge, the country’s longest rail-cum-road bridge over Brahmaputra River connecting Assam’s Dibrugarh and Dhemaji district will remove communication bottlenecks to several Arunachal districts in the Northern banks as well as the eastern parts of the state.
The bridge, dedicated to the people by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, would serve as a boon for the people for both the states and would connect several districts of Arunachal Pradesh by road as well as by railway. The train service is available up to Murkongselek near Jonai in Assam’s Dhemaji district, the nearest rail head to Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district. The bridge will also serve as a boon to the people beyond Pasighat with good roads to districts like Upper Siang and Siang districts.
The bridge would also connect districts like Lower Siang, West Siang and Upper Subansiri districts of the state by road as well as rail track up to Silapathar in Dhemaji district of Assam which is the last rail head. The bridge would also connect the state Capital by railways up to Naharlagun with several new trains to be introduced from Tinsukia in Assam.
The bridge would also serve as a link for the people of Eastern and Western Arunachal districts as distance and travel time will drastically reduced with the inauguration of the bridge. People from the state capital, will now able to travel to eastern districts of the state like Tirap, Changlang and Longding besides, Lohit, Namsai, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley and Anjaw districts bordering China.
