ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Horticulture Minister Tage Taki in a meeting reviewed the implementation of Horticulture related Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and State Plan Schemes (SPS) in the State with officers of the Directorate of Horticulture and the district Horticulture officers. While advising the heads of departments to seriously follow up the action plans discussed in the meeting, Minister Taki directed the officers to express the problems faced while implementing the schemes at the ground level. "If there are any problems on the ground implementation of schism, we will work out some remedies for smooth and successful implementation of the schemes," he said, and requested the District Horticulture Officers (DHOs) to complete the ongoing works at the earliest. He also urged the officers to work out alternatives to barbed wire fencing with low-cost fencing.

Meanwhile, advisor to Minister Gabriel D Wangsu expressed his contentment that all the officers gathered and seriously discussed the issues to help the farmers.

He advised the officers to take up the Horticulture Scheme seriously from the marketing point of view, and also requested the officers to suggest best-suited crops to the farmers.

Earlier, the DHOs presented the status of ongoing schemes. Most of them pointed out that due to the COVID-19 lockdown, some of the schemes could not be completed on time. They, however, assured completion of the ongoing schemes before the end of January 2021. The meeting also discussed means to check opium cultivation and promote horticulture gardens in the opium-cultivation areas. The DHOs were also requested to develop a surplus amount of fruit plant seedlings to be planted in ensuing 'Vanmahotsav' in July 2021.
