BORDUMSA: Bordumsa in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh registered five more fresh COVID-19 positive cases here, taking the tally to 22 on Tuesday evening. The new cases were detected during the Rapid Antigen tests conducted by the Bordumsa CHC team with other frontline Health workers.

As per medical data, of the five fresh positive cases here, one was detected from the Quarantine Facility Centre. Besides, three are businessmen associated with the Wine War House located adjacent to the Bordumsa Police Station, one is a grocer and one is from a hotel in the township. Following the detection of 17 positive cases during the last three days till Monday evening, the Bordumsa administration started commumity testing here from Tuesday after completing COVID tests for the employees of PHED, Hydro Power and Fishery departments on Monday last.

Of the the total 22 positive cases, while nine are employees of various departments including the PHED, Hydro Power, Fishery and CHC; three are dependents of the patients; and six are from the business community.

Meanwhile, Bordumsa ADC informed the Changlang District Medical Officer on Tuesday evening, "We are running short of testing kits. Bordumsa immediately needs around 500 kits for the next day's schedule in the township and other vulnerable locations too. If needed, I'm ready to fetch these urgently required gadgets from the district headquarter after they are issued by the Health department ."

In another development, the ADC hinted of some relaxations for trade as demanded by the members of the small tea growers association this evening. However, the picture would be clear only after the tests are completed within the deadline of August 3.

Meanwhile, the Adviser of COVID-19 Vigilance Committee, Gumsong Lagang said, "Unlike neighbouring Lohit District that has been charging testing fees ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2,500 from the people undergoing tests, the Changlang district administration has been supporting the cause free of cost; and as such, my committee is deeply indebted for the gesture."

Residents of the entire affected pockets have been observing total lockdown of their own as a preventive measure and also to help accelerate the pace of tracing and testing.
