Capital Complex DC Komkar Dulom checks COVID-19 wards at TRIHMS

ITANAGAR: Capital Complex DC Komkar Dulom accompanied by Papum Pare district DC Pige Ligu and District Medical Officers (DMOs) Dr. Mandip Perme and Dr. Tasso Kampu Subu on Sunday visited the isolation ward at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) to take stock of the preparedness of the medical team for treating COVID-19 patients.

Pointing out that the possibility of a potential spread of the coronavirus cannot be ruled out in the State, the DCS stressed the need for initiating all precautionary measures to stop its spread as well as to keep the isolation wards and quarantine sites ready for emergency situations.

TRIHMS Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Hage Ambing informed that each room in the isolation ward has a capacity of six beds and the whole block could be upgraded to accommodate 35 patients at a time.

The team also visited the identified quarantine site at the Scouts and Guides complex, Polo Colony in Naharlagun. The DCS stressed that containment of the disease is most important and assured the caretaker of Scouts and Guides of all necessary help to make the rooms clean, sanitized and well equipped.

State Organising Commissioner of Scouts and Guide Chanyan Lowang informed that each of the four dormitories has a capacity to accommodate 20 people. The Centre also has two additional rooms which can accommodate six persons in each room.

Later, they also visited Rama Krishna Hospital (RKMH) here. Both the DCs interacted with the Secretary of the hospital and inspected the earmarked isolation ward in the presence of medicine specialist Dr. T Motu. This ward could be utilized for treating COVID-19 patients in addition to TRIHMS if the situation demands.

Both the DCs also informed that adequate measures are being taken by the State government to contain the disease, and appealed to the denizens not to panic and to report any kind of symptoms to the nearest health center.
