ITANAGAR: A case has been registered against one returnee, Techi Pahi who managed to escape from Hotel Ashoka, Itanagar — a paid quarantine facility at around 7.30 pm last Saturday.

After approval from the Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) District Magistrate, Pahi was relocated to the State Quarantine Facility Centre in Lekhi village for violating the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

In his official statement, Capital SP Tumme Amo said that the police received information from the hotel authority on Pahi's missing from his room in the night. Accordingly, a team of police along with the medical officers swung into action and tracked the boys' mobile location, he said. However, the boy, after being informed by his mother about the search operation by police, returned to the hotel room a few hours later, he added. "During inquiry, the boy revealed that he had managed to escape from the hotel room through the windows which unfortunately had no grills," he said, while adding that the boy also revealed that he did not come into contact with anyone during his escape.

Amo furthersaid that a formal complaint has been lodged by the District Nodal Officer, Inya Riba against the boy. A case under Section 269/271 IPC R/W Sec. 51(b) of DM Act 2005 has been registered against Techi Pahi, he added.
