Central Mopin Preservation and Cultural Society (CMPCS) promoting indigenous culture

Itanagar: The Central Mopin Preservation and Cultural Society (CMPCS), a livewire apex body of the Galo community has been striving hard for more than a decade in preserving and promoting indigenous festival and culture at its office at Gumin Kiin in West Siang district. The society is manned by mixed blend of people, folklorists, well versed in traditional culture and faith and dedicated workers to gear up the task for documentations and preservation of age old indigenous festivals and culture to its graceful tradition through laid down regulations on mode of celebration of festivals like Mopin and Nyirmen.

The mantle of taking up the task which was handled by Degam Ete as president, Tumto Ete as Secretary and team of workers has been handed over to incoming President Mijum Lona and Advocate Gekar Angu as the Secretary to continue with the societal works in a function held at Gumin Kiin with standing ovation and applause on Monday.

The outgoing and incoming presidents of CMPCS and other members called upon each and every member of the society to abide by the rule and bylaws that govern the entire Galo community for greater interest of maintaining and preserving the age old culture and tradition.

The presidents and secretaries of Sector Mopin Celebration Committees of Aalo townships also attended the function to give useful deliberations, a press release informed here on Tuesday.
