Centre approves vital bridge projects to Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: The Centre has approved seven bridge projects in Arunachal Pradesh at a cost of Rs 118.5 crore, Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari said. These bridges will be built under the Setu Bandhan Scheme, he said. “Under the Setu Bandhan Scheme, we have granted approval for seven bridge projects with a cumulative cost of Rs 118.50 crores, intended for the state of Arunachal Pradesh in the fiscal year 2023–24,” Gadkari posted on X. “Enhancing connectivity across regions and fostering economic development, these projects align with our commitment to improving the overall quality of life and promoting the socio-economic growth of Arunachal Pradesh,” he added.

The projects include the RCC bridge over the Pacha River at Lachang, connecting Laimoya, Nerewa, and Sorrowa villages in East Kameng district, and the RCC bridge from Goang to Donigaon village over the Pacha River at Goang on the way to Donigaon in the district. Three bridges were also approved on NH-313, spanning from Roing-Anini Road to New Chidu village via the NHPC colony in Lower Dibang district. A double-lane steel composite bridge with RCC decking was also approved at Kharsa under Dirang in West Kameng district. Another RCC bridge at Pikte Point across the river Sigen to connect Tabiripo Saku village on Koyu-Goye road in Lower Siang district is also being approved by the ministry, Gadkari said, adding that one RCC bridge over the Ngopok River on Mebo-Dholla road in East Siang district has also been approved. A steel composite bridge over the river Panyor to connect Chullyu and Kebi villages near Yazali Agri-Farm in Lower Subansiri district has also been approved by the ministry.
