ITANAGAR: The Centre has approved 27 road projects in Arunachal Pradesh under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju in a letter, officials of the State Government said here.
The road projects with an estimated cost of Rs 553 crore are aimed at improving road connectivity in the frontier state, officials quoting the letter said here on Monday.
Nitin Gadkari wrote in his letter to Rijiju: "As you are aware, infrastructure development has been at the core of the Government's efforts to fuel economic growth. In our pursuit towards this mission, my Ministry has undertaken construction of a number of highway projects with enhanced focus on providing better connectivity to remote areas in the Northeastern Region."
"In this connection, I am happy to share with you, your request along with the proposals received from State Government regarding development and construction of 27 roadways in your state has been approved under CRIF with an allocation of Rs 553.48 crore," Gadkari informed in the letter.
"I take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the task of construction of national highways for overall socio-economic development of the NE Region," he added.
The road projects include construction of road from Boa Sango to Neomi (14-km) in the Kra Daadi district at Rs 20 crore, extension and improvement of road from Seram to Bijari in the East Siang district and construction of cement concrete pavement road in Mechuka township in the Shi-Yomi district, bordering China among others, the officials added.
