Chief Conservator of Forest directs strong act against killers of wild animals and birds in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Taking strong exception to the rampant killing of wild animals and birds in the name of Aran Festival at Simong village of Upper Siang district, Pasighat central circle Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) has directed Yingkiong division DFO to take immediate action against the violators of forest law.

The CCF’s strong directive came after pictures of large number of wild animals and birds went viral in social media.

The CCF directed the DFO to proceed to the spot along with field staff and seize all such wild animals, birds and arrest the offenders as per the provision of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 by taking help of DC and SP, if required.

He also sought action taken a report and to ensure combing operation in other areas of the division on regularly.

The video showed haul of wild animals and birds, like civets, mongoose, barking deer, flying squirrel, jungle flow, pheasant, among others, displayed in public place without any fear of laws.

Such wanton killing of wild animals and birds protected for maintaining ecological balance is painful.

Similar directions have been given to DFOs of Pasighat, Aalo, Likabali and Daporijo to make different groups for regular combing operation and take strong action against the culprits, an official release informed here on Monday.
