ITANAGAR: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed pleasure over the decreasing number of COVID-19 patients in the State. He tweeted, "As the New Year rolls, we have good news. The active COVID-19 cases in Arunachal continues to decline. It has come down to below 100 with impressive recovery rate of more than 99%. Thanks to continued sustained effort to fight the pandemic by our Health workers." COVID TALLY: On Thursday, the State registered nine new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 16,753, even as no recovery was reported on Wednesday, said State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa. Altogether 16,609 people have recovered from the infection so far; the recovery rate is 99.14 per cent. The State has 88 active Coronavirus cases, while 56 people have succumbed to the infection so far. The fatality ratio is 0.33 per cent. Three cases each were detected from the Capital Complex Region and East Siang, while one case each was also reported from Tawang, Lepa Rada and Changlang district. An Assam Rifles jawan is among the fresh cases. Barring two, all the cases are asymptomatic. The cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests. The Capital Complex region has the highest number of active cases at 30, followed by Tawang (20), East Siang (12) and West Kameng (9). The State has so far tested 3,81,616 samples, including 602 on Wednesday. The positivity rate is 0.52 per cent, added Dr Jampa.
