Itanagar The Area Level Federations (ALGs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) functioning in Namsai district have a reason to smile as they can now sell their products and services in the City Livelihood Center (CLC) being set up under the Deen Dayal Antodaya – National Urban Livelihood Mission (DDA-NULM). The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) under the chairmanship of Namsai Deputy Commissioner Bijoy Talukdar, has established the CLC as a one-stop-shop, in the premises of the Urban Development and Housing department.

The CLC was formally inaugurated by Namsai legislator Chau Zingnu Namchoom on Thursday in presence of the DC and other officers, an official communique informed.

Speaking on the occasion, Namchoom said that the SHG members would no more find difficult to sell their products as the center would help them in finding potential buyers.

“The CLC will be a one-stop shop where people can come, see the products and purchase and even place bulk orders,” he said and assured to help financially the ALGs and SHGs with innovative ideas and projects besides providing an amount of 25 lakh each to rural and urban areas from his MLA local area development fund.

The MLA added that the central and the state governments have been working tirelessly to make every woman self-sustainable and financially independent through various government schemes and skill development programs.

The DC in his deliberation hoped that with setting up the CLC, the middle and higher-income groups could access various services from the urban poor which, in turn, would generate livelihoods for them.

Talukdar applauded the SHGs for their achievement and requested them to work for the greater cause of the society like segregation of waste and saying no to single-use plastic, the communique added.
