ITANAGAR: In a letter to the Anjaw Deputy Commissioner on Friday, the Department of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) has considered the recommendation to put a complete lockdown in the district for nine days with effect from May 22 to May 31 next.

The decision came from the Department H&FW, while considering the recommendation of Anjaw district administration for complete lockdown on May 20 due to the surge in Covid positive cases.

The Department of H&FW stated that, though the district shall remain under lockdown for nine day, the essential services such as healthcare services, police, fire, banks, electricity etc shall remain functional, following the Covid appropriate behavior. The district administration shall regulate movement of public for buying essential food items and such services shall continue in both public and private sector, the letter added.

Further, various containment measures to control the transmission of Covid and reduce positive rate, the district administration has been reminded to substantially increase the numbers of persons tested for Covid and accordingly send the reports of measures taken to strengthen surveillance and contact tracing.
