BORDUMSA: The general people as well as including Congress workers here are wondering, "Has the NabamTuki-led Indian National Congress in Arunachal Pradesh failed miserably to effectively raise it's political hoods after suffering setback at the hands of the PemaKhandu-led BJP during 2019 Assembly election?" This reaction has gained prominence after the Congress failed to register its representatives during an all-party meeting convened at the ADC office here in Changlang district on Wednesday afternoon.

This meeting of the representatives of all the political parties from Bordumsa and DiyunZilaParishad Member (ZPM) segments was convened at the ADC conference hall here in view of the ensuing Panchayati Raj election slated to be held in the State on December 22.

During the meeting, various aspects related to the polls were discussed at length with Returning Officer TaloJerang on the chair. "While the Returning Officer was checking the attendance of all the stakeholders in the meeting, there was a pin-drop silence when there was no response on behalf of the Congress," regretted a former Congress leader of Rajanagar Village.

When contacted, the Bordumsa-Diyun Congress block president, JawjaNongSingpho said that the Congress has lost its total base in Bordumsa after the 2019 Assembly polls mainly due to the lack of coordination and the typical superior attitude of the party leaders. "I have been serving the party since 2003. Tackling various challenges, I rendered my loyalties towards the cause of the party. But there was no moral or material support from any top Congress leaders," stated the Singpho Congress leader in a demotivated tone.

'As for upcoming Panchayati elections, I had urged some of the Congress office bearers and leaders to field candidates in the fray and also draw up strategies for securing some of the assured seats in the Panchayat. But there has been no positive response so far," said Singpho.

Even then, he stressed, "One thing is for sure: Neither the BJP nor the Independents would be able to secure the ZPM seats due to multiple reasons. The Congress candidates would have the last laugh at all levels once the party high command pays attention here and fields the right candidates. This is the right time for the Congress to regain it's lost glory in Bordumsa-Diyun."

Meanwhile, one of the office bearers of the State Congress party in Itanagar during his telephonic interaction with The Sentinelon Wednesday afternoon assured that the party will field its candidates for Bordumsa in the scheduled two-tier Panchayat polls. "We have already scanned our ZPM candidates for the Bordumsa segment; and would fix a meeting to this effect and officially declare the names for GPCs and GPMs," said the Congress leader.

Mentionably, a PIL (No 11 /2020) case was filed against the government's move to hold local body polls recently.
